Early Life with Dogs

Hi there, my name is Taylor. My life with dogs started back before I could crawl. My parents are both huge dog fanatics. For most of my years growing up, we fostered dogs through Last Hope. We got to know all sorts of sizes, breeds, and personalities. They became my closest friends and I loved learning how to bond with each one.

Career in Dog Care

In 2011, I found myself pulling over in a random parking lot to get directions to a job interview. My brother, who was with me at the time, noticed we were in a parking lot of a dog facility. He told me it had to be a sign. I canceled my interview and walked inside the dog facility with my resume. Behind the counter was the owner of the dog daycare and boarding facility. She gave me a working interview for the next day and I was hired before the end of shift. I have worked in dog care ever since. I have managed at some of the best facilities in the South Metro and worked alongside some of the most talented dog care professionals. Through the years, I’ve obtained a veterinary assistant certification, dog language and behavior, pack behavior, and canine CPR certifications.

Founding Ruffin’ Around

What led to Ruffin’ Around Pet Care, LLC? Why a dog, of course! For all my years I dreamed of having a Golden Retriever of my own. In 2015 that dream came true with Olive. The bond we shared was unlike anything I had experienced before. After a lot of research (and witnessing firsthand), I learned dogs thrive best in smaller packs and getting one-on-one attention. They like to choose their buddies that play similar to them and have a like energy. I also noticed the poor habits dogs picked up being in larger packs due to being stressed, overstimulated, and tired. This resonated with me. I also prefer a small group of like-minded friends and one-on-one attention, than being put in a large mix of people all day. So, in 2016, my husband, Zac, and I opened our doors with RAPC. In 2019, with an infant at home, I took a career opportunity to internally build a daycare and boarding facility from the ground up. I loved my role, the people, and the dogs. I knew that Ruffin’ Around was still the dream. I left my position and became a Certified Organizational Consultant. By doing this, I was able to develop systems and schedules. I helped people build skills through lessons and a relationship. Then it was time for all of it to come together. With the reopening of RAPC, we have created a relational-centered lifestyle for our pack and family. We follow schedules and routines to provide security. Dogs spend their days with us reinforcing love, respect, obedience, and fun. We build skills through lessons and experiences. Now every dog that plays or stays with us gets the same level of attention and love that I expected for Olive.
